Call for papers
What the call asked for
The conference wanted work that had not been published before and was not sitting in another conference or journal review at the same time. That rule matters in a field where a single result can be split into several attractive papers.
Regular submissions were limited to seven pages in the conference template. The review looked for scientific merit and novelty, not institutional reputation. Accepted work was placed in an oral session or in the poster exchange.
The call also directed work that was accepted and then presented to IEEE Xplore, with indexing through EI. Presentation was therefore part of the publication route, not an optional extra.
The call in four parts
The topics were grouped into seven research tracks. Use the field below to narrow the list by keyword.
7 of 7 research tracks shown
-
Radio and spectrum
Resource scheduling, interference control, propagation models, antennas, electromagnetic compatibility, deployment constraints, performance measurement, satellite and cellular positioning, and the safety of wireless systems.
-
Connected vehicles
Links inside a vehicle, vehicle to vehicle links, vehicle to roadside links, vehicle to internet links, communication with vulnerable road users, roadside and core network design, and electric vehicle to grid exchange.
-
Network design
Communication architecture, software defined vehicular networks, cloud assisted networks, fog and roadside computing, vehicular ad hoc networks, delay tolerant networks, multimodal design, security architecture and performance.
-
Protocols and data flow
Medium access, routing, IP mobility, location services, transport protocols, data dissemination, multimedia transmission and cross layer design.
-
Cooperative services
Automated driving support, safety and traffic management, freight distribution, green transport, shared mobility, electric mobility, multimodal services and emergency management.
-
Standards and testbeds
Access technology measurement, positioning performance, open standards questions, lessons from live testbeds, large scale challenges, conformance testing, interoperability and quality assessment.
-
Open questions
Work that did not fit a single track was still welcome when it addressed a real question for transport communications: security, privacy, energy, scale, regulation or the boundary between automated systems and human operators.
Before you submit
- The work must be original and previously unpublished.
- It must not be under review by another conference or journal.
- Regular papers may not exceed seven pages in the conference template.
- One full registration is required for each accepted regular paper, paid by the stated deadline.
What happens next
Each paper is reviewed for scientific merit and novelty. The committee then assigns accepted work to an oral session or to the poster exchange. The call directed work that was accepted and presented to IEEE Xplore, with EI indexing.
The live call referred to a submission system and a paper template. Neither target survived in the source record, so this archive does not reproduce them.
The student paper contest gave students enrolled in an academic programme a separate route through review. Two conditions applied at the time of submission: the author had to be enrolled in an academic programme, and the student had to have made a substantial contribution to the work.
Eligible students also had to present the paper in person. The edition gave two awards, one for the best paper and one for the best student paper.

Review, presentation and publication
The technical programme committee reviewed submissions against two tests: is the result scientifically sound, and does it add something the field did not already know? A paper could pass the first and fail the second.
Acceptance did not guarantee a podium. The committee assigned oral slots where the work suited a full presentation and poster places where a closer exchange made more sense. Both routes counted as presentation for the publication record described in the call.
Registration conditions were strict. One full registration was required for each accepted regular paper, and a paper could be removed from the programme if payment was not completed by the deadline. The registration record sets out the fees and dates.
